Heron Hill Winery Gives a New Twist to the Classic Series Wines
June 21, 2012 (Hammondsport, NY) – Heron Hill Winery announced the Summer roll-out of a new label design this week for its mainstay Classic Series wines. The new label features a clean, contemporary design and continues to use the heron as the focal point of the brand. Though the past design served Heron Hill well for over a decade, the redesigned label will no longer depict Heron Hill Winery’s acclaimed flagship building overlooking Keuka Lake. The colors for the new label were chosen to harmonize with the current palette of colors for Heron Hill’s Ingle Vineyard series of single vineyard, limited quantity wines. The Classic Series includes the traditional cool-climate varieties presented in blends from selected growers around the Finger Lakes: Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Muscat and three styles of Riesling.
As part of this new direction for the Classic Series, all white wine varieties will now utilize twist-off caps. Bernard Cannac, Heron Hill winemaker comments, “We are choosing wines that do not require bottle aging, like the Chardonnay, Riesling and Muscat. The Classic Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc will continue using natural corks because these wines benefit from bottle aging.” Semi-Dry Riesling has remained Heron Hill Winery’s best selling wine for many years. The twist-off closure is perfect for this wine as it will help to preserve the fruit nuances by not exposing the wine to oxygen. Heron Hill’s Wine Club members received the just released 2010 Cabernet Franc with the new label in their June shipment. The three styles of Riesling will be available in the Tasting Rooms by the end of July and the back labels will now include the International Riesling Foundation's (IRF) Riesling Taste Profile. The three styles of Riesling will be available in the Tasting Rooms by the end of July. Most consumers will begin to see the new package on shelves in July of this year with the full portfolio transitioned to the new design by early autumn.
